So, after a very long hiatus, I'm considering coming back to the modding scene for a bit. I have unfortunately lost all the original source code for my previous mods so if I do come back and update them I'm going to have to recreate them. Thanks for all the support.
1.1 Is out!
New features:
- Difficulty settings:
There are three difficulties:
Easy - The default difficulty - The police will always accept your payment
Normal - Like easy but the police can also deny it
Hard - Like Normal but the police can also accept your payment but instead of lowering or increasing your
wanted level they will add one star to your current one and send some SWAT units to your location. This will happen only if your wanted level is two or higher.
Like everything else, the difficulty is configurable in the .ini file. Every difficulty has a number
so 0 = Easy, 1 = Normal, and 2 = Hard.
To change the difficulty just set the Difficulty variable to the difficulty number you want.
Something is wrong because in newest update there is noPoliceBribesV.dll but ScriptHookVDotNet2.dll
I'd like to use the mod but when I press U either nothing happens or the nearest police car despawns.
I really want to use this mod, especially with the third option, but yes, as greg115 mentioned above, the zip file has a wrong dll file. I think it must be the developer's mistake when uploaing the newest version. :D
@FelixSG @greg115 Okay so I uploaded the actual dll currently waiting for approval :) Sorry
@yoni1857 Thanks for your work. I'll try it later and leave a feedback if any other issue found. :D
For developer's reference: Just before I tested the newest version, and found out that the spawned SWAT still kept shooting me even after all wanted levels cleared by paying the bribe.
I don't know whether it is intended or not, but just in case, I report what I experienced. (Tested with the environment of using FTFR, Gangs of Los Santos and many other script mods) :D
and here are my suggestions for a better mod:
1. It would be better if the activation key and interface (menu) key are separate, because when in hurry it is kind of hard to quickly decide whether to go for the bribe or not. Rather than having a player to choose exactly how many wanted levels to erase, it would be better if success of giving a bribe by default would erase all the wanted levels. - and the detail setting can be changed in the menu.
2. I think you can use intuitively proper and different font 'colors' for each situation. For example, show green letters when success, yellow or orange ones for denied, and show red for trapped (set-up). And the shorter sentences are better (You don't have to say too much. Just 'seeing is believing', you know ;))
3. You'd better spawn the SWAT from longer distance. Especially in open place, like on the street, I see they get spawned from the air (and I do understand that this is actually how the GTA V game engine works) and then it looks somewhat weird. Moreover, facing the spawned SWAT too early seems a bit unrealistic because there must have been time spent for their dispatch even though the player was set up. Putting more distance between a player and SWAT will not only make the scene to seem naturally, but also make it make more sense.
Thanks again for making, fixing and releasing this mod. I think your this mod has a good potential. And I personally hope all my recommendations could contribute for a better update, and would not give you too much stress.
:D
Hi, how can I edit the ini settings and change to set a gamepad key, and is it possible?
@mirox95 To edit the ini settings you need to edit PoliceBribesV.ini and gamepads are not currently supported.
1.2 (Thanks @FelixSG for the feature suggestions!)
WIP Features:
- Colored bribe messages so you don't have to read the whole thing to know what happened.
- Configurable Minimum and Maximum distance for the SWAT Agents to spawn on hard difficulty
- Quick bribes allow you to configure a key and level in the ini file to quickly bribe the police without opening the menu.
If you want something to be added you can always post it in the comments!
@Ilikeeditingpolice01 I think I might be able to do something like that. It'll be a different script though.
1.2 Released Now! (Thanks @FelixSG for the feature suggestions!)
Features:
- Colored bribe messages so you don't have to read the whole thing to know what happened.
- Shorter bribe messages.
- Bribe messages are now customizable!
- Configurable Minimum and Maximum distance for the SWAT Agents to spawn on hard difficulty .
- Quick bribes allow you to configure a key and level in the ini file to quickly bribe the police without opening the menu.
- Bug fixes.
The download (at the time of writing) is currently under approval but I already uploaded a showcase video to YouTube.
Thanks for considering my opinion and doing the update. :D
more suggestion after the newest update:
it would be better if
1. the player pulls out his cell phone and takes a moment to contact someone in his ear. It obviously shows that he contacts with someone whom he is personally connect to in the police for bribing. -> I saw this simple cell phone motion in one hitman mod: https://www.gta5-mods.com/scripts/random-hitman-mission (for developer's reference). The mod does not need any additional file like ifruitaddon2.dll, so I believe you can implement the motion easily in your own code.
2. it takes time (for example: 30 sec ~ 1 min) to retry the bribing after failure. Without this delay, just continuously hitting K button until success would always work, and it reduces the tension of police chase.
:D
@FelixSG I am aware of the bribing delay and I've tried everything to fix it. Currently, there is no fix for the problem and it makes it even harder due to lack of documentation for NativeUI and ScriptHookVDotNet.
TL;DR: I tried everything. The problem is not in my code.
And about 1: I will try to make that possible but like I said earlier, it will be extremely hard due to lack of documentation.
@yoni1857 Thanks for your reply. I hope you would find out the way to make it up. :D
@yoni1857 I'm considering posting a mod that was inspired partly by this mod but the source code is completely hand-written by me. I just don't want to make you think I'm copying you. If you want proof I can provide the source code of the project or a video if necessary.
@briancatmaster That's alright man, just make sure to give me credit lol. Sorry for the (very) late response, I'm not very active here anymore.
